A haunted house that is not a haunted house

St. Petersburg already has one of the most unusual art spaces in Florida, and this Halloween it leans all the way into the strange. Creative Loafing Tampa Bay reports that FloridaRAMA has opened Relics and Lore: A Radley Experience, an immersive installation that transforms 1,000 square feet of the space into a paranormal world for the Halloween season. It is open now and recommended for ages 13 and up.

The name will ring a bell for local art fans. Radley House was a cult favorite, and artist Cody Meacham brings it back in a new form, blending Victorian Gothic atmosphere, theatrical effects, and dense visual storytelling.

Built for discovery, not jump scares

Meacham is clear about what this is not. There is no conveyor belt of jump scares and no actor chasing you down a hallway. In his words, it is an immersive art experience designed to create a sense of mystery and discovery. Guests are meant to walk in curious, encounter the unexpected, and leave still wondering what exactly they experienced.

The installation sits where immersive art, theatrical production, paranormal attraction, and visual storytelling meet. It rewards people who slow down and look closely, because the details are the show. That is a different promise than most October attractions make, and for anyone bored of the standard haunted house script, it is the whole appeal.

It will keep changing through the season

One visit may not be the full story. The experience is designed to unfold over the course of the season, with surprise holiday evolutions and additional programming planned later in the year. FloridaRAMA has built its reputation on exactly this kind of locally created, visually rich world building, the kind of place where every room gives photographers and casual visitors something worth sharing.

For Tampa Bay, it is also a useful signal. Audiences are showing up for experiences they can walk through, photograph, and talk about afterward, not just stages they watch from a seat. Artists and venues building for discovery are building for how people actually spend a night out now.

Plan your visit

The practical details, so you can put it on the calendar:

Why we are watching it

Immersive art is one of the strongest live experience formats in Florida right now, and St. Petersburg keeps proving it. If you go, take your time, look closer than the crowd does, and let the room tell its story. And if you spot us out there with cameras, that is the job: Florida events like this one are what the Event Radar was built to find.
